Joy. What does that word conjure up for you?
For me, when I think of the JOY, I think of something that is internally determined. It’s like a decision you make. As in today I choose joy. I never used to think that though. I had always thought it was a state of being based on circumstance, not a decision I could make regardless of what was going on in my life.
I guess you could say I had confused joy with happiness. You see, I happen to know for a fact that while happiness can be a decision you make when you wake up, circumstances throughout the day can momentarily (or longer) rob you of it. Regardless, joy is still an ember smouldering deep down in your soul to keep you going. Sure it takes some fanning now and then so it doesn’t go out, but once you realize that’s part of your own responsibility then it’s easy to keep replenishing it.
And that’s what this space is all about for me. It is about creating joy in my life and sharing that with you. My goal in doing so is to help you find ways and means to create your own. I take great pride in being responsible for feeding my joy and I hope you do too. When I first started writing about The Joy Trail last year it changed my life. I think it can change yours too, if that’s not too bold a statement to make.
This is why my main job title is now Chief Joy Maker. Yes, Chief Joy Maker here on The Joy Trail. If it is to be, it’s up to me. So let’s just say I’m moving forward and ready to Joy On.
Join me, won’t you?
